No business can thrive without a solid relationship with our customers. A relationship that is based on trust and partnership. Blue Cube has many such relationships, none more so than with Cold Move Limited
We have been working with Cold Move Limited for several years, whilst equally benefiting from being proactive members of the Cold Chain Federation.
Recently, Blue Cube was back on Cold Move’s Oswestry site, installing one of our brand new, exclusive Ultra Smart Hybrid blast units. Cold Move is the latest business about to take advantage of these UK built Smart Hybrid blast units, which have been proven by Blue Cube’s own customers’ data to deliver impressive increases in performance at a reduced operating cost.
Cold Move has been in business for over 65 years. Founded by Bill Woodward, his grandson James is currently MD, the then named Woodward Foods Ltd was initially established to sell frozen food into the wholesale market. Over the years, the company evolved to principally become a public cold store, opening Shropshire Cold Storage in 1979. With a business built on family values and partnership, it has been known as Cold Move since the late 1990s.
Whilst on site, Blue Cube’s UK Sales Manager Lisa Rowbotham sat down with Site Director for Cold Move Simon Williams to understand more about the business, how it has evolved, the strength of the relationship Cold Move has with both Blue Cube and the Cold Chain Federation.
The cold chain and associated industries have been particularly exposed to on-going global and domestic challenges. When asked what the main challenges were, Simon responds: “the escalating costs of energy is a huge concern. The labour market is very difficult. With unemployment so low, it’s hard to recruit new people. Also Brexit, in particular surrounding the paperwork and bureaucracy that has been created for exporting goods. This means we have to jump through more hoops as an industry to get goods out of the country.”
The Cold Chain Federation has been a great help to Cold Move. In particular Simon highlights “the support mechanism the CCF has in place. The association provides great technical support as well as proactively assisting members effectively respond to these industry challenges.”
Throughout the interview, Simon used the term partner a lot. Blue Cube see Cold Move as an invaluable partner, which is something that clearly resonates with Simon. In conclusion Simon states:
“Partnership is very important for us as a business. We like to work with people we can develop partnerships with. We enjoy a very good working partnership with Blue Cube, right through from Sales to after sales support, as well as service. I would say Blue Cube are probably the best in the industry.”
